Fire Alarm Monitoring with IoT: A Read-Only Approach

How to bring panel status to a dashboard without touching the alarm logic.

The fire panel detects, decides and runs the safety actions. A monitoring layer only reads its status and tells the right people quickly.

• Check what the panel exposes: volt-free relay outputs, RS485/Modbus or BACnet/IP
• Connect through isolated inputs or a gateway, wired by an authorised fire engineer
• Publish events over MQTT with TLS, plus a heartbeat so a silent gateway raises an alert
• Show Normal, Fault, Alarm and Offline per site, with full event history
• Alert on alarm, fault, battery or mains failure and disablement, and auto-create service tickets
• Test in the panel test mode, including internet loss and recovery

Never send commands to the panel, and never treat the dashboard as the official alarm notification.
